Curtis Bigelow is a dedicated educator, Marine veteran, and author whose life reflects perseverance, leadership, and faith. After serving 16 years in law enforcement and 14 years as a JROTC Instructor, he retired from the State of North Carolina with more than three decades of public service. His career in both the classroom and the field exemplifies discipline, mentorship, and integrity. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserves, Bigelow retired as a First Sergeant after 20 years of service. He earned numerous military honors, including the Combat Action Ribbon and the Presidential Unit Citation for his service in Iraq in 2003. His leadership extended beyond the military—he was named NCO of the Year for his unit and later served as Chief of Police and Associate Vice Chancellor at North Carolina A&T State University. Bigelow’s academic journey is equally inspiring. He earned multiple degrees—an AAS from GTCC, BAs from Shaw University and John Wesley College, an MS from American Public University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, graduating with honors. His dedication to education and mentorship continues today through substitute teaching and writing projects designed to inspire students and parents alike.
